Great Bridlington: The People’s History

brid-logo

Great Bridlington, The People’s History is a wonderful project, put together by writer and Bridlington enthusiast Adam Strickson, that grew as a legacy from the events of Priory 900 in 2013. It presents an online ‘living history’ of the town over the past nine hundred and one years.

People of all ages have provided fascinating Bridlington stories and personal memories, often concerning a family member or ancestor, or someone who contributed to the town’s history. These were collected on decorative story cards provided by Adam in 2014 and 2015. Click here to read a further introduction to the project here.

Topics include ‘war and peace’, ‘school and education’, ‘sport and entertainment’, ‘family and friends’, ‘fishing and the sea’, ‘work and the land’ and ‘faith and festivals’.

Adam says: “We hope the project will be an inspiration for more people to write and recount their own stories, and to build on our resource.”
